First week of last year

First week of my last year as a high school student done and all I can is that I am EXTREMELY EXHAUSTED! I have a tough year ahead of me but it will all pay off when I am off to university pursuing my dreams.

What dreams you may ask? Well I am still undecided for my career choice. It is currently between medicine and actuarial science. And no medicine is not where 'you make medicines'  FYI.

I know what will be required of me if i choose either, a lot of hard work and dedication but I am very motivated and know that I will be the best I can be regardless of the career I choose to pursue

If I decide on medicine I will be limited to 4 choices of university and at the minute its proving difficult to choose 4 from a possible 24 medical schools in the UK. So on that note, if there are any medicine students/doctors reading this I would love to hear from you regarding your university choice and why, what the course was like there etc so I can make an informed decision as possible.

Thanks guys!

1D: This Is Us

1D infection has hit the nation!!

So on Thursday I had the chance to see the new One Direction movie. Of course, being 18 and all this wasn't the first thing I wanted to do with my day .. ok who am I kidding I couldn't wait to see it and as it was my little sisters birthday, I had the perfect excuse to tag along!!

To be honest I wasn't the biggest fan of One Direction going into this (by that I mean I like Harry and Niall and a number of their songs but I won't be featuring on 'Crazy about One Direction' anytime soon), but after an hour and a half my viewpoint had totally changed.

Having a camera follow you everywhere, recording your every move 24/7 would of course capture the 'real you' and it was great to actually get a glimpse into the lives of these normal teenage boys just trying to live their lives and have fun (while making millions along the way!)

I would seriously recommend this film to not only 'directioners' but to everyone regardless of age or gender as it shows the men behind the mics in ways you would not otherwise get to see which is brilliant!

Angelina's Secret Revealed

Angelina Jolie has spoken out about her undergoing a recent double mastectomy.

The actress made the brave decision to have the procedure after discovering she is a carrier of the BRCA1 gene, meaning she had a 87% chance of developing breast cancer.

However, after choosing to go ahead with the surgery, those odds have now dropped to little over 5%.

News of Tomb Raiders decision broke yesterday with Angelina deciding to tell her tale in a NY paper in which she praised her supportive husband Brad Pitt.

She has said that the whole procedure has taken over 3 months to completion, including reconstructive surgery but that she feels empowered as woman because of the choice. During the process the star has been working alongside William Hague, attending a G8 Foreign Ministers meeting in London earlier this year and also visiting refugee camps in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Mr Hague has praised the stars decision saying that she is a 'brave lady' and her decision will carry as 'inspiration to many.'

Jolie sadly lost her mother to ovarian cancer at the age of 56 and is now apparently considering having her ovaries removed as a protective measure as she is more than 50% likely to develop ovarian cancer.

We think any woman who decides to have such procedures done or even the testing done are very brave and that Angelina is very courageous for coming out and publicising her ordeal in order to raise awareness.

We hope that soon the day will come where we can beat cancer!

Khroma no mora

Kim, Kourtney and Khloe have decided to rebrand their Khroma makeup line as 'Kardashian Beauty'  in a bid to avoid a $10 million law suit.

Despite the announced changes, the original website www.khromabeauty.com and the official facebook page are still operating. However it is thought that they will now begin the costly process of rebranding as some products were already produced and being promoted

It all started in June when Lee Tillet, the founder of Khroma Makeup, sent a cease-and-desist  letter to Boldface Group Inc, the branding company behind the Kardashian's Khroma line, accusing it of stealing the 'Khroma' name.

Mrs Tillet set up her company in 2004 and trademarked the name Kroma in 2010 which means 'colour' in Greek and sued the Kardashians for $10 million claiming that the KHroma company would cause confusion in the marketplace.

And it would seem that the judge agreed as the Kardashians did change it!

Woman in Black

90210 star Shenae Grimes married her British model boyfriend yesterday in a quiet ceremony in England.

The actress has been dating model, Josh Beech, since last year and got engaged in September.

Shenae, who plays Annie Wilson in the teen series, tweeted a photo of the happy couple kissing yesterday with the caption, ' I now pronounce us Mr. and Mrs. Beech! Ahhh! Xx'

However, rather than opting for a traditional white gown, she instead settled on a black Vera Wang gown.
The Josephine gown from Vera Wang's Fall 2012 Collection features a V-neck halter dress, laced bodice and a layered tulle skirt.

It seems that she will have more time to carry out her 'wifely' duties with 90210 not being renewed for a 6th season.

The popular series which debuted in 2008 will come to an end when the fifth season finale airs on May 18th and we hear its going to be a good one!

Kate Upton lands first US Vogue cover

After being heavily criticised for having hips, boobs and a bum Kate Upton has defied critics who laughed at her dreams of moving from swimwear to couture, by landing her first US Vogue cover.

Having previously graced the covers of Vogue Italia and Vogue UK ,the 20 year old landed the front cover of the June issue where she is heralded as 'the hottest supermodel on Earth.'

In the accompanying interview, the magazine praised Kate her down to earth attitute and happy personality and Kate also took the chance to defend herself against all those god awful critics, '' The things that they're rejecting are things that I can't change. I can't change my bra size,' she said.

'They're natural! I can work out and I can stay healthy and motivated, but I can't change some things.
'I really just live my life. I love my body. It's what God gave me! I feel confident with myself, and if that inspires other women to feel confident with their bodies, great.''

Following her cover on the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue in 2012, she shot to fame after performing the 'Cat Daddy' by the Rej3ctz in a video which went viral and has since amassed more than 16 million views.

'I didn’t buy the magazines that had models on the covers, because I didn’t know them. So I think this kind of gives me, as a model, a personality that people can connect with,' she explains.

Kate is hoping that her career will see her working in films and designing lingerie, as well as modelling.

'I never set out to be on the runway', she said. 'I feel like I trust my career path. I would love to have my own lingerie line'

Last year she was rejected by a casting agent for the Victoria Secret runway show.

What a mistake that was!

TREND ALERT: Chanel Singapore Show

The infamous Karl Lagerfeld's latest Chanel spectacular debuted last night in Singapore.

The pre spring/summer 2014 collection premiered in a disused nutmeg plantation with models including Cara Delevingne, Linsey Wixson and Joan Smalls walking the runway while guests such as Dakota Fanning, Anna Mouglalis and Carine Roitfeld watched on.

The collection featured pieces heavily influenced by the Southeast Asian setting it was debuted in however it also featured small touches of Britain.

Some of the clothing exhibited for the upcoming season included coordinating 2 pieces, dresses over wide-leg trousers, lace playsuits, pleated silk dresses and dual length skirts.

As the evening wear began to appear, it was clear that shimmer, sequins, pearls and applique were key, all in Lagerfelds signature colour palette of course, monochrome.
